Welcome to Grandma Poems
While we honour all our mothers
With words of love and praise.
While we tell about their goodness
And their kind and loving ways.
We should also think of Grandma,
She’s a mother too, you see….
For she mothered my dear mother
As my mother mothers me.

Grandmothers are mothers who are grand,
Restoring the sense that our most precious things
Are those that do not change much over time.
No love of childhood is more sublime,
Demanding little, giving on demand,
More inclined than most to grant the wings
On which we fly off to enchanted lands.
Though grandmothers must serve as second mothers,
Helping out with young and restless hearts,
Each has all the patience wisdom brings,
Remembering our passions more than others,
Soothing us with old and well-honed arts.

Everything my Grandma does
is something special made with love.
She takes the time to add the touch
that says “I love you very much”.

She fixes hurts with a kiss and a smile
and tells good stories grandma-style.
It’s warm and cozy on her lap
for secret telling or a nap.

And when I say my prayers at night
I ask God to bless and hold her tight.
‘Cause when it comes to giving hugs,
my Grandma’s arms are filled with love!

Grandparents and grandchildren,
Together they create
A chain of love
Linking the past
With the future.
The chain may lengthen,
But it will never part.

What Is A Grandma

Someone to sigh with
Someone to cry with,
To be through smiles and woes
Someone to talk with
Someone to walk with
Wherever a path in life goes,
A Grandma is a Treasure,
An all around pleasure,
To share with, to care with, and love
Wrapped with affection,
And made to perfection,
A Grandma is a gift from above

Between the earth and sky above,
nothing can match a grandmother’s love.

Family Birthday Grandma Poems Quotes verses

In the dim and distant past,
When life's tempo wasn't fast,
Grandmas used to rock and knit,
Crochet doillies and baby sit.

But Grandma you go to the gym,
Exercising to keep slim,
Or you're off touring with the bunch,
Or joining all your friends at lunch.

Driving north to fish or hike,
Or riding miles on your bike,
I think perhaps you go too far
You're off your rocker, Grandma.

Happy Birthday Granny

Mama's mama, on a winter's day,
Milked the cows and fed them hay,
slopped the hogs, saddled the mule,
And got the children off to school.
Did a washing, mopped the floors,
Washed the windows and did some chores,
Cooked a dish of home-dried fruit,
Pressed her husband's Sunday suit.
Swept the parlor, made the bed,
Baked a dozen loaves of bread.
Split some wood and lugged it in,
Enough to fill the kitchen bin,
Churned the butter, baked a cake,
Then exclaimed, "For goodness sake!
The calves have got out of the pen!"
Went out and chased them in again.
Gathered the eggs and locked the stable,
Returned to the house and set the table.
Cooked a supper that was delicious,
And afterward washed all the dishes,
Fed the cat, sprinkled the clothes,
Mended a basket full of hose.
Then opened the organ and began to play,
"When You Come to the End of a Perfect Day."

Grandma Poem
I found this little poem, about a child and Grandma, in a magazine while I was waiting in a waiting area at a local hospital---I think it is so meaningful and beautiful---I would love to share it with others---Thank you!

Grandma and Me

I like to walk with Grandma
Her steps are slow like mine
She never says-now hurry up
She always takes her time.

I like to walk with Grandma
Her eyes see things like mine do
Wee pebbles bright, a funny cloud
Half-hidden drops of dew.

Most people have to hurry
They've no time to stop and see
I'm so glad that God made Grandma
Unrushed and young like Me!

Thank you so much for this opportunity.

Webmaster: It is oft quoted on the internet that this grandma poem is by Thena Smith but I doubt it because she doesn't claim it to be. I may be wrong but I think it is by that prolific writer, Author Unknown

Grandma Poem

grandmas are like wind chimes...they surprise you all the time!
grandmas are like the navy... they protect you (from when you're a baby).
grandmas are like smiles...they NEVER go outta style!
grandmas are like jokes...sometimes funny, sometimes pretty lame, but after all the things shes done... c'mon, pick the JOKE to blame! (:

Grandma Poem
My Grandma is an Angel

by Marie

I have seen this poem, or a variation of it many times and it is attributed to different people. Do you know it? Do you know who wrote it?

(Grandma)(Nan), (We)(I) wonder
Where you keep your wings.
Are they hung in your closet?
With all your other things?

Do you put them away ?
And just use them at night
And when you're not using them
Do you polish them up bright?

(We)(I) know you have wings,
For (we)(I) know this must be true
Because God only gives them
To angels like you

Webmaster says Marie, Thank you for submitting it. I like it. I understand it's been claimed by Ricky R. Hernandez. It seems to me that it could be used, with or without some adaption, for a Mother on her birthday, or a wife on Valentines Day or anyone as a eulogy for a Funeral

Grandma Poems

To my dearest Grandma
Have a lovely day today;
You are the very best
So what else can I say.

Have your hair done
Or whatever treat you want;
We'll meet you later on
At your favorite restaurant.

The family all together
To love and celebrate with you;
So with all the love in our hearts
Have a (Happy Birthday)(Grandparents Day), Grandma do!

To my Nana you are the one
The very one and only;
You stopped my childhood
From being lonely.

You told me stories
And held me tight;
Sometimes you even
Cuddled me all night.

Have a wonderful birthday
You deserve so much more;
I love you very much
My love is always yours.

(Flowers and perfume are not)(Nothing is) enough
To shower you with love;
So (Happy Birthday)(Merry Christmas) Grandma to you
You're an angel from above.

You always know just what to say
You always know just what to do;
So this time it's our turn to say
(Happy Birthday)(Merry Christmas)-We Love You!

Grandma Poems

Today you're going to be spoiled all day long
Hope you feel special.. because you are.
The Very Best Grandma, by far

© V4C

There are women who become famous
For their beauty and their brains;
Very few for all their love
That their friends and family gains.

But you my love are the sweetest of them all
A Grandma with none to compare;
We all think the World of you
Disagree? No one would even dare!

So on this day to celebrate
Your birth from how long ago?
We shout it from the rooftops
What we hope you already know.

Your hair may be grey and curly
But you're still so modern to me;
It doesn't matter what I ask you
You're as wise, as wise can be.

You know about hip-hop
You know all the moves;
You're the grooviest grandma
Family history proves.

A great dancer as well as a cook
So tell me more stories do;
Happy Birthday Grandma
As on this day I'll spend it with you!

Grandma, with your cuddling arms,

And your Magic Kiss,

We love our special place for visits

And we'd like to tell you this.

You make us special lunches

And cuddle us real tight;

We talk about what we want to

And you love us, with all your might.

We love you very much, you know

And we tell you sometimes too;

We ought to tell you so much more

We think we will - Don't you!!

As much as we can
We love you, man

Grandma Poems

I'm sending this card Dear Grandma/Nanny
Just to tell you what's in my mind
Of how very sweet and special you are,
So loving, warm and kind
You are always understanding
And oh so thoughtful too
And I'm wishing for a birthday
That's the very best for you

© V4C

I love you Nanny/Grandma such a lot
You mean the world to me
You're patient, kind and full of fun
And thoughtful as can be
You help me out and give advice
You're there when times are bad
You buy me treats and things I need
And hug me when I'm sad.
But best of all, we're special pals
And as today's for you
It seems the perfect time to say
'You're Wonderful''s true!
