Civil Partnership Verses Poems
Civil Partnership verses poems- Verse #1 Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping. For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts. And stand together yet not too near together: For the pillars of the temple stand apart, And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.
Khalil Gibran

"The Confirmation" by Edwin Muir.
What shall I call you? A fountain in a waste, A well of water in a country dry, Or anything that's honest and good, an eye That makes the whole world bright.

The Bargain
My true love hath my heart, and I have his, By just exchange one for another given: I hold his dear, and mine he can not miss, There never was a better bargain driven:

Balloon
by Graeme King
I think that I might fly away, in my hot air balloon, And hide from worldly worries on the dark side of the moon; There’s but one thing I need before I float into the blue: I need a sky companion and I want it to be you. We’ll fly beyond the storm clouds and we’ll watch from up above, I’ll cover you in rainbows as we feel each other’s love; You’ll shower in the stars at midnight in our special place, I’ll dry you with a comet’s tail and kiss your beaming face. Dreamy drifting panorama, changing every day, Every night your loving smile will be my milky way, The moon will wane before us, sailing there in heaven’s height, For nothing else can challenge our love’s everlasting light. Venus shining on us, glowing soft at our devotion, Our daily drifting dalliance in love’s celestial ocean, I’ll write you lover’s poetry, and you will be my muse, Orion and Andromeda will oversee our cruise. We’ll sleep with clouds as pillows, maybe steal an angel’s wings, Then fly as magic lovebirds, or slide round Saturn’s rings, And should we tire of drifting and the stars all floating by, We’ll hook onto a meteor and soar across the sky. Will you consent to be my mate on our celestial ship? I’m ready, heart all packed with love, to last us for the trip, Take my hand and step aboard, we’re heading for the sun, We’re flying till we find the place where our two souls are one.

I Wanna Be Yours By John Cooper Clarke
Let me be your vacuum cleaner Breathing in your dust Let me be you ford cortina I will never rust If you like your coffee hot Let me be your coffee pot You shall call the shots I wanna be yours
Let me be your raincoat For those frequent rainy days Let me be your dreamboat When you wanna sail away Let me be your teddy bear Take me with you anywhere I don’t care I wanna be yours
Let me be your electric meter I will not run out Let me be your electric heater You get cold without Let me be your setting lotion Hold your hair with deep devotion Deep as the deep Atlantic Ocean That’s how deep is my emotion Deep deep deep de deep deep I don’t wanna be hers I wanna be yours

I Love You
I love you With my every breath, With all I have left, From the deepest depths, Of my heart, I love you With all my strength, With a thousand mile’s length, Every thought I think, I think that I love you. For the length of forever. As long as were together, Through good times and bad weather, For always, I love you When no one is there, When you think no one cares, When love seems too rare, Remember, I love you. When everything’s gone, When all has withdrawn, When hopelessness dawns, Don’t forget, I love you. When you fall down, When your dreams come unwound, When hope cant be found, Be happy, I love you. When you make mistakes, When you’re filled with hate, When you’re old and grey, Even then, I’ll love you. Until the very end of days, Until death takes my breath away, And we go our separate way Even after then, I’ll love you.

... [W]e already have the romance the passion, the deepest love the celebration of something stronger than the state's, till now, lawfully ill-concealedcontempt or hate
so this date will simply be him and me turning up to collect what has been, for (forty one) years, our rights withheld by the vast majority now claiming "it never bothered me, mate" and worse expecting us to be gleeful (perhaps a little grateful?) 'cause at last they've shown some ethical backbone
...
so forgive moi (or not as you please) for not going soft at the edges shaky at the knees or rosy red in the spectacles to put you at your, comfortable, complacent, makes me want to vomit, ease.
Labi Siffre.
