Independence Quotes

Independence Quotes is the web page that tries to satisfy those who want to celebrate July 4, the occasion but not the movie nor those who seek inspirational quotes, poems, sayings on the subject of achieving personal independence.

Today, may the fourth be with you.

**

Patriotism

It’s almost the Fourth of July
Patriotism is running very high
An American will Do or Die
To ensure freedom for some other guy

Scott J Collins

**

We have a 4th of July in England
Oh golly gumdrops, yes indeed, my word!
It would be really quite frightful if we didn't
For we'd be stuck forever on July the third

Jon Bratton 2011

**

The American colonists longed for British tea
Then they acquired a thirst for Liberty

Jon Bratton 2008

Independence Quotes and Poems

It's all flags, fireworks, family, food and fun
That's July Four
July Five, the fun is done
The fireworks are no more

Jon Bratton 2011

**

My heart beats red, white, and blue.
And with patriotism it aches
Generally, I believe in democracy, freedom and civil rights
But in particular, cupcakes

Jon Bratton 2011

Independence Quotes and Poems

You have to love a nation that celebrates its Independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.
Erma Bombeck

**

If you are ashamed to stand by your colors, you had better seek another flag.

**

This country will not be a good place for any of us to live in
unless we make it a good place for all of us to live in.
Theodore Roosevelt

**

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and success of liberty.
John F. Kennedy

**

Liberty with danger is better
than peace with slavery.

**

I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
Lee Greenwood

**

O beautiful for spacious skies
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountains majesty
Above thy fruited plain!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for pilgrim feet,
Whose stern, impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!

America! America!
God mend thine every flaw,
Thy Liberty in law!

O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved,
And mercy more than life!

America! America!
May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain divine!

O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!

America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

Katherine Lee Bates

Independence Quotes and Poems

Banner free, o'er land and sea,
Exult in your glorious Liberty.

**

Freedom's natal day is here.
Fire the guns and shout for freedom,
See the flag above unfurled!
Hail the stars and stripes forever,
Dearest flag in all the world.
Florence A. Jones

write for the occasion

Hi, I'm Jon Bratton and this website is my retirement income provider, thankfully. I've always been a rhymester and have, over the years, written many farewell to coworker ditties, love poems for valentines, roastings for milestone birthdays and so on. This interwebsite was originally created for card makers, stampers and scrapbookers to provide verses, quotes, one-liners etc for their papercraft creations. You'll find me, on a personal basis on Facebook
There are over 400 pages of material and I've done my very best to provide good internal navigation to help you find the perfect verse or quote for you. Not everything on here was written by me. I've included the work of Author Unknown who is very good, I find and I have also included contributions from you guys
Thanks, and please keep 'em coming.
Now for details of the Verses4Cards page on Facebook and if you like what you find on my interweb site I'd really like you to click the Like button, coming next. Chow!
