Gifts to Charity..how to request them
Your presence, and not your “presents” are requested. Should you wish to give a gift, (I) (we) would be honored to have this donated to one of (my) (our) favorite charities, such as: (XYZ)
or
(ABC)
© V4C
In lieu of gifts, (I) (John) and (Margaret) ask
that you make a donation on (my) (their) behalf to either
(XYZ)
or
(ABC)

Should you be contemplating a hugely expensive overblown gesture
In the form of a gift to your well deserving friend
A donation to a charity (of your choice) (listed below)
Truly, would please me no end

This page brings you ways to request a charity donation instead of a gift to the celebrant or newly wedded couple. It has become a modern trend and recently it received a right regal endorsement from William and Kate at the Royal Wedding

When I count you as a friend
I feel rich beyond measure
Your presence, and a donation to (charity) (Name of Charity)
Would give me unrivaled pleasure

The special (birthday) (Christmas) (Wedding) gift from you
That would get (my) (our) heartiest applause
Is your presence at (my) (our) (party) (wedding)
And a donation to a worthy cause

If you were thinking of giving a gift,
To help us on our way.
A donation to (XYZ)
Would really make our day.

Save the date of (Saturday 8th October)
Is the first thing to say
To share the conviviality
Of my (40th) birthday.
Enjoyment is vital
If you're to be my guest,
To eat, drink and be merry
Or do your very best.
Should you be contemplating a gift
Your presence will suffice,
But if you really feel the need
Then a charitable donation would be nice

Please find within this poem
Information just for you,
With some rules and regulations
That we both insist you do.
Save the date of (Saturday 20th August)
Is the first thing to say
To share the love and happiness
On our wedding day.
The second one is vital
If you're to be our guest,
To eat, drink and be merry
Or do your very best.
The third one is an order
So don't bring two left feet,
As when the evening comes around
You must dance to the beat.
The fourth rule can be broken
We really do not mind,
But if you choose to follow it
Thank you for being kind.
We've been together for a few years
And have a lovely home,
There are not too many items now
We don't already own.
So if your thoughts were on a gift
Your presence will suffice,
But if you really feel the need
Then a charitable donation would be nice.
The choice is really up to you
And we would like to say
We hope you come, enjoy yourselves
And have a lovely day.
