Fathers Day Verses Poems Quotes
Dad, you've neither been an anchor to hold me back,
Nor a sail to take me there,
But a guiding light whose love
Has shown me how, why and where
Thanks, Dad
I'll do the same for you, if the time comes

Fathers Day Verses Poems Quotes
Though time has changed your handsome grip,
Your hair is snowy white,
You gait's a little slower now,
Thick glasses help your sight.
Oh, do I thirst for years gone by,
To be that growing lad,
Re-living all of the memories,
Of growing with my dad.

Fathers Day verses poems quotes
Fathers can be solitary mountains,
All their love rock-like, steep, and strong.
Though warm and caring, somehow they belong
Halfway home to mothers' bubbling fountains.
Each of us needs love that knows no quarter,
Reminding us of bonds that cross a border,
Strengthening our sense of right and wrong.

Father's Day Quotes
Fathers need not fathers be.
All one needs to do is choose
To love for life, and that embrace,
Held long and hard, bestows the grace
Each craves. For all in time must lose,
Restored alone by memory.
So now it is with you and me.

This special Fathers Day wish
That comes with love to you
Brings warm and heartfelt thanks
For all the thoughtful things you do--
It also comes to let you know
You mean more to me each day
To everyone your lives have touched
In such a loving way.

Fathers Day Verses Poems Quotes
Grandfathers are fathers who are grand,
Restoring the sense that our most precious things
Are those that do not change much over time.
No love of childhood is more sublime,
Demanding little, giving on demand,
Far more inclined than most to grant the wings
Allowing us to reach enchanted lands.
Though grandfathers must serve as second fathers,
Helping out with young and restless hearts,
Each has all the patience wisdom brings,
Remembering our passions more than others,
Soothing us with old and well-honed arts.

To my dad on his day,
Of whom I am a living will:
May your happiness fulfill
Your goodness, as is just and right.
Deeds are seeds upon the night
As wind and wonder have their way,
Delivering the destined light.

Fathers Day Poem From Wife to Husband
Of course, I'm not your child, but nevertheless
This card is sent to say
I played my part, I supplied the egg
Have a lovely Father's Day

Bedtime came, we were settling down,
I was holding one of my lads.
As I grasped him so tight, I saw a strange sight:
My hands. . .they looked like my dad's!
I remember them well, those old gnarled hooks,
there was always a cracked nail or two.
And thanks to a hammer that strayed from its mark,
his thumb was a beautiful blue!
They were rough, I remember, incredibly tough,
as strong as a carpenter's vice.
But holding a scared little boy at night,
they seemed to me awfully nice!
The sight of those hands - how impressive it was
in the eyes of his little boy.
Other dads' hands were cleaner, it seemed
(the effects of their office employ).
I gave little thought in my formative years
of the reason for Dad's raspy mitts:
The love in the toil, the dirt and the oil,
rusty plumbing that gave those hands fits!
Thinking back, misty-eyed, and thinking ahead,
when one day my time is done.
The torch of love in my own wrinkled hands
will pass on to the hands of my son.
I don't mind the bruises, the scars here and there
or the hammer that just seemed to slip.
I want most of all when my son takes my hand,
to feel that love lies in the grip

A Fathers Day poem / verse by David Kettler
Fathers Day Verses Poems Quotes
When I was just a tiny kid,
Do you remember when,
The time you kissed my bruises,
Or cleaned by soiled chin?
You scrambled for the balls I hit,
(Short-winded more than not,)
Yet, every time we'd play a game,
You praised the "outs" I caught.
It seems like only yesterday,
You wiped away my tears,
And late at night I called your name,
To chase away my fears.

My Dad and I
My dad and I-we think alike,
He knows just what I mean
Before I even say a word
He reads, well, in between.
My dad and I-we like to fish
Or build a model plane,
Or fix a broken chair or two
Or just a windowpane.
My dad and I-we know the score
Of every single game;
Sometimes he's really busy, too
But he takes me just the same.
My dad and I-we go swimming too,
Each year and sometimes twice.
My dad and I-we do everything;
My dad-he's really nice.

Yet more Fathers Day Verses Poems Quotes
Over the years
As we grow old,
We remember our father
So brave and bold.
In the garden,
Leaning on the plow,
He would listen to me;
I see him now.
He would give advice
And understand;
He was always there
To lend a hand.
God made fathers
Strong and firm,
For he knew our lives
Would have great concerns.
So he gave us fathers
To teach us to pray,
And guide our lives,
And show us the way.
So on his day
Let's take the time
To say "Thanks, dad.
I'm glad you're mine."
Fathers Day poem by Mary Frances Bogle

When I was ... Four years old: My daddy can do anything.
Five years old: My daddy knows a whole lot.
Six years old: My dad is smarter than your dad.
Eight years old: My dad doesn't know exactly everything.
Ten years old: In the olden days, when my dad grew up, things
were sure different. Twelve years old: Oh, well, naturally, Dad doesn't know anything about that. He is too old to remember his childhood.
Fourteen years old: Don't pay any attention to my dad. He is so old-fashioned.
Twenty-one years old: Him? My Lord, he's hopelessly out of date.
Twenty-five years old: Dad knows about it, but then he should, because he has been around so long.
Thirty years old: Maybe we should ask Dad what he thinks. After all, he's had a lot of experience.
Thirty-five years old: I'm not doing a single thing until I talk to Dad.
Forty years old: I wonder how Dad will handle it. He is so wise.
Fifty years old: I'd give anything if Dad were here now so I could talk this over with him. Too bad I didn't appreciate how smart he was. I could have learned a lot from him.

Fathers Day Verses Poems Quotes
He's rough and lacks in etiquette,
Society would say.
He has no classy attributes,
To help him on his way.
He's not a fancy dresser,
And he's not so trimmed and neat.
With simple clothes and simple shoes,
He wears upon his feet.
He doesn't belong to a club,
Or drive a shiny car.
And when he takes vacations,
He does not go very far.
He doesn't dine on fine cuisine,
To him fast food's a treat.
And he may use a plastic fork,
When it is time to eat.
He has a modest little house,
But has all that he needs.
He keeps his lawn cut nice and short,
He even trims his weeds.
He works long hours at his job,
To make an average pay.
And even if he's sick or tired,
He goes to work each day.
His job is just a factory job,
His pay just makes ends meet.
But, a few good friends and family,
Make his life complete.
He's not well versed in poetry,
Theater or the arts.
And wisdom is not something,
That he constantly imparts.
He loves the simple things in life,
For riches doesn't thirst.
He knows what is important,
And his family is put first.
The wealth that God has given him,
To treasure in his life.
A loving son and daughter,
And a very special wife.
He never has much money,
And his life is not a show.
But he is still the richest man,
That I will ever know.
To others he's a simple man,
And fame he's never had.
But he's the greatest man I know,
He also is my Dad.

Fathers Day Verses Poems Quotes
A Dad is a person
who is loving and kind,
And often he knows
what you have on your mind.
He's someone who listens,
suggests, and defends ~
A dad can be one
of your very best friends!
He's proud of your triumphs,
but when things go wrong,
A dad can be patient
and helpful and strong.
In all that you do,
a dad's love plays a part ~
There's always a place for him
deep in your heart.
And each year that passes,
you're even more glad,
More grateful and proud
just to call him your dad!
Thank you, Dad ...
for listening and caring,
for giving and sharing,
but, especially, for just being you!
Happy Father's Day

but first...
The History of Father's Day ...why you are seeking a Father's Day Card Poem Verse or Quote
Father's Day was the brainchild of Sonora Louise Smart Dodd of Spokane, Washington. She heard a Mother's Day sermon in 1908 and thought of her father William Smart who had raised, along with her, at 16, her 6 younger brothers, following the death of her mother giving birth to the last child. The first Father's Day was celebrated June 19, 1910 in Spokane and the very slow wheels of government started turning...for 60 plus years...when in 1972 President Nixon determined that nationally it should be the third Sunday in June. It is now that date in many parts of the World but not all ...see below
(Mrs Dodd hung on until her "baby" was official and died in 1978 aged 96)

Plenty of Father's Day Quotes to come
I watched a small man with thick calluses on both hands work fifteen and sixteen hours a day. I saw him once literally bleed from the bottoms of his feet, a man who came here uneducated, alone, unable to speak the language, who taught me all I needed to know about faith and hard work by the simple eloquence of his example. Some useful rhyming words for Dad

________2nd line_____________
________ 3rd line ____________
I'm so proud that you're my Dad
Suggested second lines

So this card is sent to say
