MY JOURNEY IN SEARCH OF LOVE

I began my journey in search of true love
And looked to the sky, for strength from above
If love is so great, why is it hard to find
I cannot see it, am I just blind.

What is true love, does it really exist
Is it a feeling, a thought or an abyss
Where is true love, is it lost in the mist
Is it in my mind, my heart or behind my first kiss.

Why do hearts hurt if love is so pure
Many are broken and seeking a cure
What is true love, is it big or small
They say 'It's better to have loved, than not at all'

Where can I find it, where does one look
In nature, in others, or a romantic book
'It comes from within', that is what they say
Do I search in my soul or continue to pray.

My journey now over, I will share what I found
True love is within us and holds no bounds
It is a beautiful feeling, within one’s soul
It can be shared with others and make you whole.

From this feeling of love there is so much to gain
If it is true love you will never feel pain
It will not deceive you, or devalue your worth
An abundance of this love can bring peace on earth.

This feeling of love can be found nowhere else
No glamour, no glitter or extreme wealth
This materialistic world to which we aspire
Cannot give us the true love our hearts desire.

As I close my eyes and relax my mind
I discover inner feelings deep down inside
Peace, happiness and harmony too
True love exists there within all of you.

Now that I have found it, I will never let it go
I shall cherish these feelings deep in my soul
No one can destroy it, it is here forever
This true love of mine will leave me never.

Valentine/Anniversary/Love/Birthday Poem to Spouse/Partner

by Jon Bratton
(UK)

‘Neath an apple tree, a kiss seemed right
This apple fell between us and we both took a bite
It was clearly a sign that love was in the air.
As a result of this apple we became a pair.

The apple was there to plant its seed
It was love at first bite, we both agreed
A nibble was good but we wanted more
Ever since that night it's been love to the core

Precious Wife Poem

by David Cohn
(Wichita Falls Texas)

The most precious thing in this world to me
is not something you'd hide or lock up with a key
its some proof of his love
its a gift from above,
not of silver or gold,
but from the promises he told.
As he saw that I was incomplete,
he made for me a help meet,
he looked the heavens over high and low
and told an angel she must go.
Adam was made from mud and sod
by the hand of our loving God,
he took from his rib as he slept
and made this gift, so through life she would help.
All these things he did for me
so that I could become We.
And I promise to you all the days of my life,
I ll love and cherish you, my precious wife.

Wherever I may go;
On Valentine’s Day, I’d like to say
I care more than you know.

My Love-Poem

by Francisco J. Saenz
(San Antonio, Texas, USA)

It is said that when one truly loves,
one must also suffer.
If that is true,
then the love I feel for you
cannot be false.
I would like to be able to forget you,
and erase you from my memory.
To accomplish that,
I would have to tear out the heart
that in my soul beats only for you!
My entire life,
I will await your return.
It doesn't matter how much time passes,
I will wait for you.
Maybe one day
when time has painted your hair white,
and slowed your step,
you'll think of me.
If you remember how much I promised
to love you and wait for you,
if you feel that
you still love me
look for me.
For here you will find an old man
who although time has stolen his youth
and has put wrinkles on his face
still waits for you,
and still loves you.
Just as much as the day we met.

my love for you

by Shepard Melusi Ndlovu
(south africa;gauteng;johannesburg;)

everything around me can change but my feelings for you will never change.

Everyday i feel i should tell you how i feel.
i want to say i love you ,
but i don't know what Love is.
baby girl you complete me ,
you feel the empty spaces in my heart.
when i'm around you my mind shuts down,
for the feelings i have for you can't be described by words.
me without you is like a bird with one wing,
flying is impossible
and so is the description of my feeling for you.
if people say its unreal i wont believe them,
but if they say its madness i will believe them for i am madly in love with you.

Boyfriend Poem

by Nicola
(England)

A Poem for my boyfriend

I don't have much money to buy you a present,
But hopefully this will do,
So you know how much you are thought about,
And how much I love you too.

You're in my thoughts when you are not here,
But I don't have to wait for long,
For you to come home and give me a cuddle,
Coz in your arms is where I belong.

Poem to my Husband on our Anniversary

by Gemma Cordle
(Derbyshire)

An Anniversary poem for my husband. With such a busy life now we have 2 children I don't always make the time to tell him how much he means to me and how proud I am of the life we have created together.

Love bought us together
As Husband and Wife
And on this day I gained
A Best Friend for Life

I don't tell you enough
What you mean to me
But trust me when I say
We were meant to be

And what you don't hear
And what you don't see
Is that I thank God each night
That you picked me

With our family now complete
I've never been so content
When they talk about happiness
This is what they meant

I love you...

by Becky Sue Zygai

I'm not that great at this,
But I'll give it a go
To tell you how much you mean to me
For you I will give it all
Since the day we first meet,
I knew it was love
I remember it like it was yesterday
An inner peace surrounds me
When you're around
I want you to know?
That 'I love you with all my heart'
Something impossible to describe
You're the first thing I think of
Each morning when I rise
You're the last thing I think of
Each night when I close my eyes
I will always keep your name in my heart
My life has so much meaning now
All because of you
My love for you runs deeper than the ocean
And higher than the sky
Every time I think of something sad
I replace the thought with you
When I'm wrapped up in your arms
I feel safer than ever before
Without you, there is no me
I never knew I could love someone as much as I Love you
I want you to know how much you meant to me
But I'll never get it right
I'll spend the rest of my life
Trying to show you how much you mean to me
Every breath I take is meant for you
You're the sun that shines
My favorite part of the day is talking to you
Every though of you is wonderful
I awake each day with a smile
Knowing I'm with you
The joy you bring
To my life everyday
Is unexplainable
I'm thinking of you every second
Of every day I live
You're the beat of my heart
You're the reason I live
I can't believe the pressure
That your love brings out in me
When I'm with you my smile is always a mile long
You're what I've been waiting for my whole life
My heart it skips a beat
Just thinking of you
You make me feel special, new, and many more
You make me feel more loved
Than ever before
Happier than I've ever dreamed of being
You are my dream come true
With you is where I want to be
Because you love me for me
You make my life feel pure
I love you more than you will ever know
I'll always be there for you
Till the day I die
I'll do anything just for you
I didn't know I could love
Anything as much as I love you
So, I'm giving all I have to give
To you. I give you my heart
So please hold these nine words true
'Forever and Always,
I will love you for you'

Love Poem for Husband

by Tina Burton
(UK)

This was written for my husband one year for Valentine's Day

Ties that Bind

There’s an invisible thread binding me to you,
Which goes straight from heart to heart,
An invisible cord tying you to me
That nothing and no-one can e’er break apart.

Though it cannot be seen, it’ll always be there,
Getting stronger with each coming day;
Like the roots of a tree spreading out through the earth
And held firm like an anchor in the ocean’s rough sway.

It’ll even be there when we exit this life
And are resting in heaven above,
For this unbreakable line linking us to each other
My darling, is made out of love.

The little things in life

by kathleen gallagher
(Bolton)

My poem is about true love and growing old together and all the little things that show we love and care.

Ill be with you until the end of our lives,
when we're old and grey and covered in hives,

we'll share a cup for our dentures,
and go on day out adventures,

holding hands in the street,
rubbing talc on each other's feet,

we'll count each other's varicose veins,
then we'll go for a walk,
with our matching zimmer frames,

oh what a life it will be,
the things that make us happy,
are what make you and me.

How We Met (Thank You IKEA!)

by By Mary Lansdown
(Southampton, England)

This poem tells the story of how my twin sister and I travelled over 70 miles to Bristol to visit their IKEA store, as we did not have one in Southampton at that time. I didn't end up going to IKEA however as I met my future husband, and we spent the weekend getting to know each other instead.....

I dragged myself round local shops
to find a coffee table
but seeing something that I liked
I really wasn't able

So I phoned my sister Angie
said I'd had a great idea
we should travel up to Bristol
and buy one from IKEA

We booked for the whole weekend
so our first stop was the pub
then we checked into our hotel
and headed to a club!

And dancing there all by himself
(that much I do recall)
was a comely pert West Country lad
who said his name was Paul

Now ever since that fateful night
you've never left my side
and when we gave each other rings
I became your loving bride

But even though we're happily married
something's missing still I fear
for there's still no coffee table
Baby, take me to IKEA!

Love Poem

by John Dobson
(Surrey )

Intro added by Webmaster
This is a love poem, a Mother's Day poem, a birthday poem to a wife, this is bloo..min' good, that's what it is. Cheers, John

You are a very sophisticated woman with a worldly view of life
Such a clever clogs, you are a mother, lover and the perfect wife
The tasks you undertake, the comfort that you give
Makes our home the perfect place for all of us to live

We turn to you for comfort when our world is full of tears
You support us in our time of need, you allay all our fears
When we see the smile that adds to the beauty of your face
We understand what its like to love, no one could take your place.

Overwhelming ourselves with laughter,

Love Poem

by Jesse G. Ferrer
(California, US)

To Abigail

Oh my love Abigail, without you my soul derails.
My thoughts carry me to that place we met, where you caught me in your net.
A cup of coffee we shared, life stories we compared.
The look in your eyes was honest, not a lie.
For you my love I'd proudly die.
There's much in life I do not know,
But one thing is certain, this love will grow.

let me bring you on a date

by shandor collins
(cork city ireland )

We must meet up again
Last time it was a mistake
Girl I just wish it was fake
Now girl let me take you on a date

Yo I am dressed in my tux
I am trying my best to draw out my looks
Lets go, we can go slow,
We will get front row
I believe so. Actually I know
I am the producer of this show
It was supposed to be a surprise
I was waiting for this day to say
I love you. Hope that’s ok
If not I'll run away.
You will break my heart
And I'll never forget this day
But it’s ok to say
Will you enjoy the rest of the night
And maybe we will be friends
Until the very end..
Love can always drive you around
Bend.

Short Love Poem

by Adrian "Sonny" Carpenter
(Stoke-on-Trent UK)

You Charm Me

You charm me with every glancing look,
You be-witch me with your touch,
Your love is simply magical,
I cannot express to you how much,
Your generosity is overwhelming,
And your compassion warms my heart,
I remember every last kiss we share,
That keeps me going whilst we're apart,
I love you with every part of my being,
And will do so forever more,
I cannot wait to spend our lives together,
Of this I’m completely sure

The MAT

I love money forever but not more than my love,
Just because I cannot get true love using money
But when my love is with me then I can earn more money
That's why I love money forever but not more than my love

Love Confession Poem

by Adrian 'Sonny' Carpenter
(Stoke on Trent)

What you are to me

You light the path to my future,
You close the chapters of my past,
You fill my life again with promise,
And a love I know will last,
You bring a smile to every morning,
And a happiness to every day,
You are the love for which I have been searching,
I love you more than words can say,
I miss you so much when you're away from me,
You are always on my mind,
You are perfect in every way to me,
You are gorgeous, loving and kind,
Although we have only shared a small part,
Of our lives together it would seem,
But I feel I've known you a lifetime,
You are the woman of my dreams,
I love you baby with my whole heart,
Your soul and mine entwine,
You have my word, my vow, my commitment,
To love you until the end of time

Love is Poem

Love is...

A smile
A hug
A kiss
A song

That special someone
The one who cares for you
The one who loves you
The one you love

Warm and safe
A burning candle
A world to explore

Good times
Fun times
Funny time
The times you love

A box of chocolates
A bunch of red roses

My love is you

You're My Light

by Saky
(Chandigarh)

(Dedicated to someone really special)

I see the finest embodiment
of soul and mind,of love and passion
of heart and desire, of truth and direction
You can light the darkest of the worlds
with your eternal spirit, your ever-glowing gleam.
You are my light, my heart's only desire
Without you, this world will mean nothing to me
All the happiness of the world will shrink
and there will be no peace
and all I want is PEACE....

Valentine Poem

by Peter Stewart
(Dumbarton, Scotland)

The Universe.

The universe consists of Planets
and Stars that shine so bright,
Each one of them made here on Earth
by lovers holding tight.
If there is no love the Stars go out
and that's the reason why.
Man must make love every night
Or ALL the Stars would die.

Scientifically untrue, but a good chat up line, Peter

Touching Red Rose Poem

by James
(Woking, UK)

This is a poem that went the rounds in 2009 and I thought it appropriate for inclusion on the Valentines Page and The Funeral Page

Red roses were her favorites,
Her name was also Rose.
And every year her husband sent them,
Tied with pretty bows.
The year he died, the roses
Were delivered to her door.
The card said, “Be my Valentine”,
Like all the years before.

Each year he sent her roses,
And the note would always say,
“I love you even more this year,
Than last year on this day.
My love for you will always grow,
With every passing year.”
She knew this was the last time
That the roses would appear.

She thought, he ordered roses
In advance before this day.
Her loving husband did not know,
That he would pass away.
He always liked to do things early,
Way before the time.
Then, if he got too busy,
Everything would work out fine.

She trimmed the stems, and placed them
In a very special place.
She sat the vase of roses
By the portrait of his face.
She would sit for hours,
In her husband’s favorite chair.
While staring at his picture,
And the roses sitting there.

Roses Red Poems for Valentine's Day

A year went by, and it was hard
To live without her mate.
With loneliness and solitude,
That had become her fate.
And then on Valentines
Just as before,
The doorbell rang, and there were roses,
Sitting by her door.

She brought the roses in, and then
Just looked at them in shock.
Then, went to get the telephone,
To call the florist shop.
The owner answered, and then
She asked him to explain,
Who would do this to her,
Causing so much pain?

“I know your husband passed away,
More than a year ago,”
The owner said, “I knew you’d call,
And you would want to know.
The flowers you received today,
Were paid for in advance.
Your husband always planned ahead,
He left nothing to chance.

There is a standing order,
That I have on file down here,
And he has paid, well in advance,
You’ll get them every year.
There also is another thing,
That I think you should know,
He wrote a special little card…
He did this years ago.

Then, should ever I find out
That he’s no longer here,
That’s the card…that should be sent,
To you the following year.”
She thanked him and hung up the phone,
Her tears now flowing hard.
Her fingers shaking, as she slowly
Reached to get the card.

Inside the card, she saw that he
Had written her a note.
Then, as she stared in total silence,
This is what he wrote…
“Hello my love, I know it’s been
A year since I’ve been gone,
I hope it hasn’t been too hard
For you to overcome.

I know it must be lonely,
And the pain is very real.
For if it was the other way,
I know how I would feel
The love we shared made everything
So beautiful in life.
I loved you more than words can say,
You were the perfect wife.

You were my friend and lover,
You fulfilled my every need.
I know it’s only been a year,
But please try not to grieve.
I want you to be happy,
Even when you shed your tears.
That is why the roses
Will be sent to you for years.

When you get these roses,
Think of all the happiness,
That we had together,
And how both of us were blessed.
I have always loved you
And I know I always will.
But, my love, you must go on,
You have some living still.

Please…try to find happiness,
While living out your days.
I know it is not easy,
But I hope you find some ways.
The roses will come every year,
And they will only stop,
When your door’s not answered,
When the florist stops to knock.

He will come five times that day,
In case you have gone out.
But after his last visit,
He will know without a doubt,
To take the roses to the place,
Where I’ve instructed him,
And place the roses where we are,
Together once again.

Lost Love Poem

by jacqueline
(Norwich, UK)

when i look into your eyes

when i look into your eyes
the world changes around me,
i feel dizzy and i have to smile,
your eyes are like the color of a rainbow,
of blue, orange, purple and black,
your smile is like something
too beautiful for me to imagine
but don't worry now that you
are gone away from me and you feel alone
always try to remember me because
me and you will feel
like as if we are together

Poems of Love for Birthday, Engagement, Wedding, Anniversary, Valentine, Get Well, Missing You

by Allison
(Chatham UK)

I thought I'd submit these to you. I've gathered them over the years

I may not always tell you
What I'm feeling deep inside
The emotions and the feelings
That I sometimes tend to hide .
But I'm really proud and pleased
To know that you are mine
And I hope that you still love me
My Darling Valentine

**

Love is a smile, a tear or a touch
Love says so little but means so much.
Love is forever I give it to you
For you must know I think the world of you.

Happy Anni, Birthday, Valentine

**

Forever my darling our love will be true
Always and forever I'll love just you
Just promise me darling your love in return
Make this fire in my soul dear Forever burn

**

I love my life
Because it gave me you
I love you
Because you are my life
(Happy Valentine's Day)
(Happy Birthday Darling)
(Happy (XXth) Anniversary,
a step on the road to our 100th Anniversary)

**

Roses are red,
violets are blue
I made this card just for you
It's not the neatest,
it wouldn't pass a test
But it's made with love--
that makes it the best

**

Love is in my heart today
As I send this message just to say.
I treasure you more than you can know
And hope these words will help to show.
That you mean the world to me and no one else will ever be.
More in love with you than me.

Allison

Thank you Alison. You've recognized that many poems can be used for several occasions as your heading suggests and, for example, a sister poem could be for a cousin or a mother poem for a father, and so on

UYEOVILU

by Sandra
(Cheshire, UK)

I searched through all the alphabet
For the words that might just say
All the things that I'm feeling
On this very Special Day
Out of twenty-six letters
I could find only eight
That said all that was needed
For our unforgettable date
So with no more fuss, bother or ado
Those 'special' eight letters say ....
I LOVE YOU!

Jon, I hope you like this poem that my husband wrote for me on our Wedding Anniversary. I am no good at writing verses for cards and when I happened upon your web site I was enthralled by all the verses which you have kindly allowed people to use. I felt guilty about using your site and not giving any input; so to make amends thought you might like the above as away of a 'thank you'. Your verses are an inspiration! Thank you soooooo much for allowing myself and everyone else who takes advantage of your generosity.

Thank you Sandra. Apologies for delay xx

Hope you're by my side
