This was written for my best mate's funeral back in 2001, just before 9/11. He died in his sleep having suffered an epileptic seizure aged only 29. I still miss him.
Where are you now,
When I want to say goodbye,
To chat and talk of nothing,
To share the starry sky.
Is your heaven on a doorstep,
Where none disturb your smoke,
Close by the pots of cigarette ends,
With a lid that isn't broke.
Are you still a dreamer,
Is your head still in the clouds,
Or is your place more cerebral,
Your banter listened to by crowds.
Do you drive that red Ferrari,
Whistle at all the girls you pass,
The brunette, the blonde,
The one with the shapely little...dog!
We're all going to miss you Jay,
More than you'll ever know,
We've got a lot of living to do,
And it hurts to see you go.

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path God laid for me,
I took His hand when I heard Him call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
to laugh, to love, to work or play,
tasks left undone must stay that way,
I found that place at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
then fill it with remembered joy,
a friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
ah yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.

This poem is dedicated to my Dad who passed away when I was nine years old, I've been writing poetry since I was 13 yrs old and now in my 30s I still write it daily. This was the first poem I entered in a contest and it got published in a book.
When I think of you
I feel so blue
And wish I could hold you
I wish you were here
So I could have you near
To care for me dear
I miss you every day
And wish you could see me today
Then I'd jump up and say hurray
My heart's with you
For I'll never forget you
And love you so true
When I look up to the sky
Up there so high
And see you with a sigh
I know you're in my heart
So I don't fall apart
So I hold my heart

Mommy, don't cry, 'cause God is holding my hand
and telling me everything is OK.
Mommy, God said that I will never want for anything
and I will still feel your love all the way up here.
Mommy, you should see me,
I am running and playing with God's other children.
Mommy, guess who helps watch over us while we play?
They are God's Helping Angels!
Mommy, I'm not afraid, my grandpa and grandma are here.
They came to me when it was dark and held my hands;
then we went to God's bright light,
where Angels were singing.
Mommy, God said, If you feel sad, to remember this;
I'll be the gentle breeze that brushes your face,
the sun is my smile and the rain is me washing away your pain.
Mommy, I have to go now.
I send you all my love on the wings of an Angel.
Love from your son, to you Mommy.

When I am gone, release me, let me go
I have so many things to see and do
You mustn’t tie yourself to me in tears,
Be happy that we had so many years
I gave you my love, you can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown,
But now it’s time I travelled on alone
So grieve a while for me if grieve you must,
Then let your grieve be comforted by trust,
It’s only for a while that we must part,
So bless the memories within our hearts.
I won’t be far away, for life goes on
So if you ever need me, call and I will come.
Though you can’t see or touch me I will be near
And if you listen with your heart, you will hear
All my love around you soft and clear.
And then, when you must come this way alone
I’ll greet you with a smile and “welcome you home”

This is written for my girlfriend after her mummy passed away far too quickly after being diagnosed.
I have used pieces,in parts from other sayings or verses that I've seen or heard.
Oh Mummy I know you hear me,
There is still so much i need to say,
You were taken far too quickly,
I long to hold you one more day.
I know you've gone to be an angel
But I miss you, oh so much.
I remember all our cuddles,
And your soft and gentle touch.
You meant so much to all of us,
You were special, that's no lie,
You brightened up the darkest day,
And could clear a cloudy sky
Your smile alone warmed all our hearts,
Your laughter, music to our ears,
I would give the world right now,
To have you well and standing near.
Mummy,not a second passes,
When you're not on my mind,
Your love I'll hold forever,
I just wish we'd had more time.
I've cried so many tears now,
They've been pouring out like rain,
But at least I know you're happy.
And no longer feeling pain.
The heavens called for an angel,
So until we meet again.
You will always be in my heart and thoughts,
My dearest Mummy, my best friend.
Always and Forever,
Our hearts will always touch.
Always and Forever,
Your baby girl loves you so much.

Grieving and Loss Poems
This poem was written when my mum passed away. I like to think she is still around. She will always be an angel to me.
Mum,
I hope you are my angel looking down on me,
I hope your spirit is roaming around us happy and free,
Are you behind me as I move through the day?
Looking out for me in your own special way?
Are you the wind that blows through my hair?
On a hot summers day when there is barely any air?
Mum can't you see the tears that I cry ?
Begging for your help as the days pass slowly by?
I need to know that you are by my side,
If you are there, why do you hide?
I am your daughter who is lonely and scared,
Needing the warmth and love that we always shared.
If I am blessed with an angel by my side ,
I hope its you Mum to be my guide.
Your soul was so beautiful when you were alive ,
You were always my guardian angel in my eyes.
Please Mum never leave my side
Always be my angel till the day I die
