The trees are all alive;
The river overflows with them,
See how they dip and dive!
What funny little fellows!
What dainty little dears!
They dance and leap,
and prance and peep,
And utter fairy cheers!
I'd like to tame a fairy,
To keep it on a shelf,
To see it wash its little face,
And dress its little self.
I'd teach it pretty manners,
It always should say "please".
And then you know I'd make it sew,
And curtsey with its knees!

By the moon, we sport and play,
with the night begins our day.

**

Garden fairies come at dawn,
Bless the flowers then they're gone

**

Upon the shore a mermaid fair,
with shimmering seashells in her hair,
whispers a secret from the deep,
and gently lulls me off to sleep.

**

The woods are full of fairies!
The trees are alive:
The river overflows with them.
See how they dip and dive!
What funny little fellows!
What dainty little dears!
They dance and leap, and prance and peep,
And utter fairy cheers!

Fairy Poem by William Collins

By fairy hands their knell is rung
By forms unseen their dirge is sung.

**

O give me the ears of a fairy
To hear the trees growing,
The greeting of ants and of earwigs;
To hearken the lowing
Of tiny green cattle in grass woods
Where wee winds are blowing.

O give me ears of a giant
To hear the sun thunder
Along space, to list the moon coming,
The earth swinging under:
Ah! we hear not and see not, but thinking
Fills life up with wonder!

**

And as the seasons come and go,
here's something you might like to know
there are fairies everywhere
under bushes, in the air,
playing games just like you play,
singing through their busy day.
So listen, touch, and look around
in the air and on the ground.
And if you watch all nature's things,
you might just see a fairy's wing.

**

One has never seen a fairy,
but I found this one for you.
This tiny friend, who is pretend
will make your wishes come true.

You see, friends they are like fairies,
they spread magic in our lives endeavors.
I'm glad you are my special friend,
Please stay that way forever.

**

And though you should live in a palace of gold,
or sleep in a dried up ditch,
You could never be as poor as the fairies are,
and never as rich.
