A Poem For Daddy

by jacqueline msyk
(smethwick westmidlands)

Dad Funeral Poems
(Webmaster says of this one: Jacqueline, this is brilliant. I'd love to know how old you are and whether you have written any more poems you'd like to submit)

Mommy always says to me
Wish hard and they come true
But mommy must be lying
Because I still don't see you

She says that you're in heaven
But why don't you come home?
I don't want you to stay up there
All on your very own

We often go to a special place
Where mommy says you're sleeping
I try my best to wake you up
While mommy stands there weeping

I ask my mommy "why are you crying?"
She says I'm too young to understand
She says that you have gone away
To another land

I ask her when you're coming home
She tells me that you're never
She tells me you will stay in my heart
Always and forever

seeing you dead

by Faye Churchill
(Wakefield)

Dad Funeral Poems

I wrote this poem for my fathers funeral

DAD

You don't know what you've got till its gone,
Or so I've heard them say.
I never knew how true that was
Till the day you passed away.

A shadow of your former self
When I saw you on that bed.
Your body just an empty shell
That's when I realised you were dead.

I cant believe you left me
Without even saying goodbye,
You won't believe the pain you've caused
And how much you've made me cry.

But deep down I know that now
You're where you want to be,
With your mum, dad and brother
In perfect harmony.

And dad until we meet again
I really need to say
How much I really love you
In each and every way.

SLEEP TIGHT DAD
