A SAD DAY

by Juanita Hunter
(Cortland, Oh. 44410)

I'm 79 years old have written 110 poems. I'd like to publish them, but don't know how. I've written several that are quite long - two pages. My poems are all true.true.

A SAD DAY

As I sit by the window - gazing out at the sky
Tears come to my eyes - and I don’ know why

There’s nothing I need - nothing I want
So why am I feeling - so down in the dumps

As the tears keep flowing - I ask myself why
I’m in good health - I’m not about to die

My heart feels heavy - a sad feeling inside
I should be happy - be glad I’m alive

I’m probably just lonely - tho I have my dog and cat
I guess I need a human - with whom I can chat

But everyone’s busy - with a life of their own
No time for someone - who’s feeling so alone

If I could see better - I’d go for a drive
But I can’t take that chance - for I don’t trust my eyes

So I’ll keep busy - doing things I like to do
Someone may drop in – and chase away the blues

And if and when they do – I’ll let them know I care
Glad for their company - and friendship to share
