A Pilgrim of Infinite

by Ravi Panamanna
(Palakkad, Kerala State, India)

Certain moments catch our attention and continue to stir our memories. Here, I am capturing one such moment in life - an evening scene by a riverside where a street singer is pouring forth his music to the moving world around him.

Unto the winds and endless waves
He plays a piccolo of olden tunes.
Against a sinking sun and a waking moon
The piccolo follows a note
And drops it among the passers-by.

It is a quiet eve and a river-side.
There the piper opens his amorous tunes
In search of a comfortable night.

He is serene as the stillness of the scene.
In the many corners of the city
He is an endless traveler.

And I see an old couple wipe off their tears.
Away to the shores of yore
They are swept by the wholesome music.

Late into the night he opens his fountain
And away he moves into his corner,
Emptying his richness; with a richer heart.
